What are your dreams? What is the purpose and promise of God on your life? Is your dream so big that you are scared to share it with others? Is Gods abundance the only hope you have in reaching it? It is possible to be more, have more, and become more than you have ever believed.
To start let’s get some stuff out of the way. A lot of people get nervous when they are confronted with thoughts on abundance. In 2 Corinthians 9 we read
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. (2 Corinthians 9:8, 11 NIVUK)
The whole thing about abundance is there is a FOR. There is a good work a reason to it.
“by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (2 Peter 1:4 NKJV)
Gods abundance is a continuous theme throughout scripture. A lot of people get nervous when you talk about gods abundance becase they are looking at it thru eyes of greed. They forget who we are and what we are about. That we ask for abundance not to lay up treasures on earth but to bless others and lay up treasures in heaven. Don’t be afraid of gods abundance it is meant to be used to fulfill the exceedingly great and precious promises that he has for us. That abundance may be faith or love or encouragement and it may be money.
Is your dream to start a business or write a book. It could be anything. Gods plans never lack Gods supplies. If your dream is to invent then go for it. If it is to change the world remember nothing is to small for God.
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear. (Isaiah 59:1 NIVUK)
I remember Francis Chan telling a story about his wife wanting to be rich so that when people came to her in need she could write a check to help. He responded with “that’s great and I’m glad you want to help people but I’m a pastor. It’s not a high paying profession.” Here is the thing, two years later he wrote the book crazy love which was very successful and that year he and his wife were able to give away over 1 million dollars.
Another quick story. In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One.
Last one. I recently read of a story of a woman who had dreamed of paying for a house in cash since she was 17. Crazy right. She stuck to it and last month her and her husband at the ages of 28 and 30 payed 119k for a 170k house and had saved enough extra to remodel and take a trip to Italy.
So dream big. Believe and persist without exception. “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Apple inc.
